Annie Leibovitz-Research

Annie Leibovitz in her own words is NOT a fashion photographer, she has published a book called 'wonderland' in which it shows her images she has taken for vogue and it was inspired by Lewis Carolls Alice in wonderland, throughout the book Leibovitz proposes the question "who in the world am i?" which links to Alice in wonderland as this is what Alice conveys as she confronts each challenge.

Lebovitz was a student at the Sanfransisco art institute and he work was mostly inspired by "the gritty spontaneous photography" by Robert Frank and also Henri Cartier Bresson.

Leibovitz use of colour really stands out in her work as she uses theatrical lighting where she stages different usage of natural and artificial lights to create different effects. However Leibovitz used a new style of lighting whilst also using bolder colours. this eventually got her a position with vanity fair magazine in 1983.

She has worked with many famous names such as Yoko Ono and John Lennon, she ended up being the final professional photographer to officially take any images of John Lennon before his death.

Since the 2000's Leibovitz has had her work in many exhibitions and also won multiple awards for her work.
