György Kepes Contextual Reference


György Kepes was a Hungarian born American photographer, writer, teacher, designer and painter who has influenced in many different areas of design. He graduated from the Royal Academy Of Fine Art in Budapest in 1928 where he then went on to make his earliest photograms using nature as his starting point. During this time he joined the Berlin Studio of the Hungarian artist and modernist photographer Laszlo Moholy-Nagy. in 1930-1936 he worked in Berlin and London designing motion pictures , stage productions and commercial exhibitions and from then onwards in 1937 he emigrated to new york and in 1946 he moved to Massachusetts Institute of Tech in Cambridge and taught visual design until 1974 in this time in 1967 he founded the centre for advanced visual studies at MIT and he was director of it until 1972.
